While I have had a really nice response to my first recommendation, some of you may be wondering what right I have to be offering recommendations on classic films. The truth is… none. I have none except for the fact that I have loved film, especially the classic films for most of my life. I was raised on them by my father. My first favorite movie star was William Powell. My first crush was Hedy Lamarr. And I still challenge any of the new stars to hold a candle to either. Not that I’m a critic. Not only to I not profess to be one, I don’t get the point of them in the first place in an artistic realm. But that’s a soap box for another day.
I’ve been asked to recommend films that I like to you, dear reader, not critique any, which I won’t do. However, perhaps you may find this entry interesting since I will show you were some of my opinions come from… my own work. As it happens, my love for film has translated into me beginning a career as a filmmaker and I’d like to share with you a fun, behind the scenes look at one of said films, an upcoming thriller that I wrote and directed called The 6th Degree… a bit of an homage to the old film noir “whodunit”s of the 40s with a modern twist.
Please enjoy this first look and I shall return with new recommendations shortly.
